I started using store bought essential oils in 2011 for aromatherapy purposes when I was dealing with anxiety and depression. I also used to put a few drops in my bubble baths. I tried diffusing then, but my husband hated the smell because they irritated his throat. Over time, I got away from using them regularly.
During the summer of 2016 I took a yoga and aromatherapy workshop at my yoga studio and was introduced to Young Living. I wanted to become a member, but I had been unemployed for the better part of a year and a half. I started tinkering around with the store bought essential oils that I had at home.
Around that time, my eyelids and under-eyes were really inflamed, itchy, red, puffy with dark circles and wrinkles. I've spent thousands of dollars over the years on skincare products that didn't work -- and I tried everything from high-end brands, to drug store brands, and specialty brands available through direct marketing. I had enough and decided to start looking at DIY recipes using essential oils.
I made a few things including a day cream, night cream, and an under eye serum. I was blown away at how my skin looked and felt. Over time all of those eye issues went away along with the wrinkles and dark circles.
Once I was employed again, I decided to become a member of Young Living after doing a lot of research and finding at that those store bought essential oils often used additives and synthetics and were of a "fragrance" grade as opposed to Young Living, whose oils are of a "therapeutic" grade.
I ordered the Everyday Oils collection and fell in love. I'm using essential oils for everything though I am still tweaking some recipes and trying things out first until I see positive results. I've replaced all of my cleaning products using Thieves recipes. I make my own deodorant and toothpaste in addition to all of my skin care and beauty products.
My Young Living sponsor/enroller Emily, reached out to me about the direct marketing aspect of the business of Young Living. I was skeptical at first because I hate selling things and I've known a lot of people who got burned by other direct marketing companies. But, here is the thing, Young Living is different -- you don't have to sell anything and you don't have any monthly sales quotas or large investments in products to sell. All you need to do is have a passion for essential oils and go from there. If someone signs up under you, you get commissions and other perks.
Essential oils have changed my life in so many ways and I am passionate about them and want to share my experience and journey with my friends and family. I have never been one to fall for fads and other types of scammy trends. Remember the Acai berry craze several years ago? I remember reading that the amount of berries or extracts that you would have to consume for weight loss purposes would have been astronomical, but I digress.
I'm excited to see where this essential oils journey takes me over time.
